System requirements

Check that your system meets the minimum requirements before downloading. Bandicam runs on Windows 11, 10, 8, and 7 (64-bit). Current versions (Bandicam 2024/2025) support 4K recording, hardware acceleration (NVIDIA NVENC, Intel Quick Sync, AMD VCE/VCN), and H.264, HEVC, and AV1 codecs.

For best performance when recording games, use a dual-core or better CPU, 1 GB or more RAM, and a dedicated GPU if you plan to use NVENC or other hardware encoding. See FAQ for NVENC requirements (e.g. GTX 600+ for H.264, GTX 950+ for HEVC).

  2. Locate the downloaded file in your Downloads folder (or the folder your browser uses for downloads).
  3. Double-click the installer to run it. If Windows SmartScreen or your antivirus prompts you, choose Run anyway or add Bandicam to your antivirus exclusion list (Bandicam is safe; see FAQ and Troubleshooting).
  4. Follow the installation wizard: accept the license agreement, choose an install location if needed, and click Install. When finished, launch Bandicam and use all features for free.

For more help, see our Guides and FAQ.

After installation

When you first launch Bandicam, you'll see the main window with three tabs: Screen, Game, and Device. Click the tab for the type of content you want to record. Open Settings (gear icon or menu) to set the video folder, codec, quality, hotkeys, and sound options. The default video folder is in your user folder (e.g. Documents or a Bandicam subfolder); you can change it in Settings → General → Video folder. For your first recording, try Screen Recording: select "Full screen" or "Rectangle on a screen," press F12 to start, do something on screen, then press F12 to stop. The file will be in your video folder. See Guides for step-by-step instructions.

What's in the installer

The Bandicam installer (bandicam-setup.exe or similar) includes all recording modes: Screen Recording, Game Recording, and Device Recording (webcam, HDMI capture, IPTV). No separate components or registration are required to use the free version. The installer size is typically around 20–30 MB. After installation, Bandicam creates a shortcut on the desktop and adds an entry to the Start menu. You can change the install location during setup if needed.

Current versions (Bandicam 2024/2025) support Windows 11, 10, 8, and 7 (64-bit), 4K recording, hardware encoding (NVIDIA NVENC, Intel Quick Sync, AMD VCE/VCN), and H.264, HEVC, and AV1 codecs. If you are upgrading from an older version, you can install over the existing installation; your settings are usually preserved. For a clean install, uninstall the old version from Windows Settings → Apps first, then run the new installer.

Upgrading from an older version

To upgrade Bandicam, download the latest installer from this page and run it. You can install over the existing installation; your settings (video folder, hotkeys, codec choices) are typically kept. If you have a registered (paid) license, your key remains valid after the upgrade. If you prefer a clean install, uninstall Bandicam from Windows Settings → Apps → Bandicam, then install the new version. Backup your video folder and any custom settings before uninstalling.

Safe download

Download Bandicam only from this page. Bandicam is 100% safe software with no adware, spyware, or virus. It is used by over 10 million users worldwide and is widely reviewed (e.g. 4.6–4.7/5 in user reviews).

If your antivirus flags the installer, it is typically a false positive; add Bandicam to the exclusion list and download again. See FAQ – Is Bandicam safe? and our Troubleshooting – Antivirus section.

Avoid downloading Bandicam from third-party download sites or unknown links. Unofficial sources may bundle adware or modified installers. Always use the download link on this page. See Trust & Security for more.

Uninstall and cleanup

To remove Bandicam, go to Settings → Apps → Bandicam and select Uninstall. If you want to keep recordings, back up your video folder first.

After uninstalling, you can delete leftover folders in Documents or Videos if needed.
